grass roots footie

Fresh from a good nights sleep, I took the opportunity to go and watch some grass roots footie this afternoon. I joined John, Debbie, Steve, and Steve @ the new 'windmill' home of 'the brakes' (Leamington Town) as they battled to progress in the FA cup. Sadly for them, a draw was all
that could be mustered on this outing, so the road to Wembly continues. Fun afternoon in the sun all the same...

On the downside, I've been feeling gradually worse today as the days progressed. Hopefully this is nothing more than jet lag and a cold, and not the hints of something worse (malaria) coming my way.

Summit Again :)

Jambo,

Quick update, just to let you know I summited Mt Kiliminjaro (a little under 6000m) at 8.45am on Friday. We were blessed with fantastic sunshine as dawn broke, however the wind gusted to about 35mph with a wind chill of about -30. Suffice to say it was cold.....

Its probably the toughest thing I've done to press, and I'll be posting some pics as soon as I get back. Being at the roof of Africa really was an amazing experience. I'm chilling now in Zanzibar until I come home at the end of the week. Gotta dash a beer is calling me :)

Mt Kenya

Jambo!

Good news!. @ approx 6.45am (4.45 gmt) on Friday, in the middle of a manic snow storm I (and the team) sucessfully summited mount kenya (5000m). The guides told us it was the first time in years the mountain had been snow covered in september, but I can tell you it was bloody cold!. I'd like to tell you the view was fantastic from the top, but visibility was down to 2 meters, so could see nowt .... so trust me I wasn't sticking around.

So thats Africa's second highest mountain 'bagged', time to move on to number one. Kenya was only ever a training run anyways, so mount killiminjaro here we come. Hope however, that the weather will hold a little better, as kenya in the dry season is anything but dry!.

No ill health to report with the exception of cronic tooth ache, but there's no way I'm hitting a local dentist :) .... hope to see you soon .... laters!

Africa here we go!

Well its here, Africa here I (and my friend Rosie) come, I can't wait.
You know I think I'm ready, fitness is on the whole good, despite the
fact I've had a hangover all week. I'm still carrying a little extra
weight right now which was the plan, so have a some spare to loose!.
Better than weight watchers this hill climbing lark!. Oh and to top
things off me thinks I've now had every drug known to man. So the
preparation is over, African mountains here I come.

Not sure what updates will be like, but I'll try and make some.....
Watch this space :)
